Agile Workplace Design
New international hub for a global unicorn company to support creativity and innovation
It was our honor to receive the prestigious European Property Award, in the Office Interior Design category, for our workplace project in Crystal Palace. The awards ceremony took place in London in October 2019, where we had a wonderful time.
The European Property Award is part of the global International Property Awards which celebrate the highest levels of achievement in the real estate industry. They recognise, among many factors, the standard of service provided, the creativity and sustainability of design projects, and the quality of users’ experience.
While our most important judges are our clients and their teams, this recognition means a lot to us. It reinforces that our approach to creating agile, people-centric environments is fit for the future, and that organisational leaders in Europe can benefit from learning about what we do.
Kragelj has been engaged by a fast-growing unicorn company to design the interior of an additional floor they rented in the tallest office building in Slovenia.
The company, with a widely known name in the entertainment industry, has a casual and friendly culture. The organization nurtures a community of smart, ambitious, innovative teams who enjoy working hard and playing hard.
Our client had a clear goal: to create a renowned international hub for innovation and entertainment. They envisioned a workplace that attracts and retains the best and brightest, brings out the passion in people, and helps individuals and teams realize their potential.
Leaders knew how a well-designed physical space could elevate their business and turn this vision into reality. As a starting point, they were looking to create a unique, diverse and inclusive environment which inspires creativity, promotes social interaction, and expresses the company’s brand and values.
In addition, the office needed to facilitate agile collaborative work through providing meaningful choices to members around where and how they work.
To meet these objectives, our team developed a range of work settings that support a variety of individual and team activities, work and communication styles, and personalities within the organization. We also invented a new type of work desk which allows for multiple configurations with an efficient use of the space.
The building presented numerous constraints. We kept exploring innovative ideas to optimize wellbeing and performance, until we resolved all issues without compromise.
We designed a floor layout that supports fluid movement between different work areas and activities, as well as effective communication and a seamless flow of work. The interiors integrate the latest technologies while allowing for the future evolution of work.
Every element of the space was carefully chosen to maximise flexibility and agility, and to create a positive employee and visitor experience. The office has a playful and uplifting ambience, enhanced by an array of fun features and surprising elements.
Kragelj was also responsible for managing the design process, as well as procurement and construction works. The project was demanding and fast-paced. However, with our substantial design, workplace strategy and project management experience, we’ve successfully completed the program on time and on budget.
Our savvy client played a vital role in Kragelj earning the European Property Award. Thanks to their clear and inspiring vision, focused commitment, and trust in our team, we had everything we needed to do our best work. Ultimately, we all agree that through our dynamic collaboration we’ve created an agile, future-ready workplace where magic happens.
The space we first conceptualised using pen and pencil has come to life. The office is now buzzing with positive thinking and breakthrough ideas. It’s great to see people passionate and proud, ready to make things happen.
Our client was pleased with the results, and shortly after completion, invited us to help them with two new workplace change / transformation projects.
Receiving the European Property Award has cemented our belief that through deep listening and ingenious thinking we can turn workplace challenges into opportunities. Together we can create environments where work is fun and rewarding, and where the business, its members, and the wider community are all winners.
